Cianobacterias Termotolerantes
12 de abril de 2017
Microalgae are known as a modern sustainable source of photosynthetic pigments (Astaxanthin, B-Carotene, Lutein, etc.) for food and pharmaceutical markets. However, microalgae-based colorants are still costly. One possible solution is the cultivation in tropical and subtropical zones, due to a longer sunlight duration and more stable ambient temperature all year long. However, since the culture temperature can easily surpass 45ºC, thermo-tolerant algal strains are required for more stable production in such areas. Therefore, this project aims to prove the capacity of thermo-tolerant algae isolated from local hot springs as a novel source of food colorant
